About Me

"If there's anything more important than my ego around, I want it caught and shot now." -Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams)

Waking Up in the Real World is about me--Jenee. I guess that means that in this little slice of the web, I'm the most important person. Which is pretty cool. And extremely narcissistic.

I'm a 26-year-old woman floundering in a sea of student loan debt, feelings of inadequacy, and a general disappointment in the world at large. I'm addicted to books, politics, and nicotine and I am currently using these "drugs" as a crutch while I attempt to swim to shore (i.e., grow the hell up and become an adult).

This blog is a chronicle of my (mis)adventures. In addition to keeping track of my progress on the Day Zero Project, it will also feature articles, opinions, book reviews, photos, videos, links, and a whole lot of me talking about myself. There will be laughter. There will be tears. And there will most certainly be a lot of venting.

And perhaps, along the way, I'll discover what it is that we all really want to know. Who am I? What does it all mean? Where's the beef? Who is Tyler Durden? My god, what have I done?

"...[42] quite definitely is the answer. I think the problem, to be quite honest with you, is that you've never actually known what the question is." -Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams)
